As many of you may or may not know, Danny Rolling was executed by lethal injection last night at Florida State Prison in Raiford, about 20 minutes from where I live. He was convicted of the excessively brutal murders of 5 college students in Gainesville in 1990, and wasn't even tried until 1994.

It is my opinion that this complete and utter waste of life deserved a hell of a lot more than to be put down by injection. Did he give his victims that courtesy? No. He stabbed them, mutilated them, sexually assaulted them, and in one case fucking decapitated one of them, then had the audacity to pose their lifeless bodies. He then got to live out 16 more years of his pathetically worthless life, albeit 12 of those years were in prison on death row, I feel that his life should have ended long ago and in a much more brutal manner. His victims weren't given the opportunity of 16 more years, why the fuck should he have been given that comfort?

He said that his crimes were of revenge- that he killed one person for each of the 8 years that he spent in prison. What the fuck? Did those people deserve to lose their lives because HE CHOSE to live a life that caused him to end up in prison? Hell no they did not - who made him God? There is a wall in Gainesville that college kids tag with graffiti and birthday wishes and whatnot. A lot of this stuff gets painted over as would be expected. However, dead center of this wall there is a memorial to the 5 students who lost their lives before they even truly began. That memorial has not been touched in 16 years and that speaks volumes to me.

I guess the only real point of this semi-rant is that the Florida death penalty is rather flawed in my opinion. Anybody else have any thoughts on the matter?

I know what you mean, those kind of people just make you want to hurt them like they hurt the world. We get no satisfaction from a lethal injection because basically it is painless almost like falling to sleep; Wow that is so unfair, your right he should have had the same done to him IF his punishment ended there. Which from the evidence of his life it didn't. I find justice is never truly served her on earth but that God is the only true judge with the only true sentence. When I hear of such evil people I am filled with such emotions like the ones you have felt from this event. But I quickly am reminded that this persons fate for justice is in the hands of God eternally, he might only get a slap on the wrist on earth but he will definitely pay later for his sin in hell if he has not received the grace of God which comes through a relationship with Christ. Try not to let it anger you because then he gets to effect your life too, but instead trust in God who is perfect and remember that he always has the last word.
